Plein Air
Today was the 2nd Annual Plein Air Paintout at Lake Elizabeth. Put on by the Fremont Art Association and also sponsored by the Fremont Cultural Arts Council and Olive Hyde Guild.
About 30 artists from 10 cities around the SF Bay participated.
The day started out with rolling thunder and dry lightning so it was anyones guess what we might be in for. But we are courageous souls so we hung in. The sky was amzing, clouds constantly changing. As the day went on it cleared and was really nice. Not too hot. Fremont has the BEST weather!
I did a loose wet into wet watercolor. I will let you see it but it needs a couple of adjustments. Had lots of nice comments .
then as I let the paint dry I painted a small pastel .(Chalk type). first time I have done a pastel on location so am happy with the outcome.

Looks like a very productive day in spite of the weather!
Wasn't it something else when it started the thunder and lightening and RAIN the night before. I thought back to the downpour we had at the Coyote Hills paint out and thought "OH, NO!!!"
But it did turn out wonderful. Love your pastel, I'm going to have to try it someday.
